Rosie Huntington

RosieQueen Latifah was born Dana Elaine Owens, March 18, 1970, in Newark. The second child of Lance and Rita Owens, Latifah is most well-known for her work in political activism, acting abilities and talent for rhyme. When she was 8 years old, her Muslim cousin named her Latifah which translates to "delicate" and "sensitive" in Arabic. Latifah started singing in the choir of Shiloh Baptist Church in Bloomfield, New Jersey, and performed for the first time in public when she performed a rendition of "Home" as one of the two Dorothys in a stage production of The Wizard of Oz at St. Anne's parochial school. Latifah was inspired by her mother, who was always in touch with the school and the musicians. She invited Mark James, a local disc jockey known as D.J. Mark the 45 King to appear at a school dance.
